Sheila McCallum
Oil on canvas
After graduating from Glasgow University where she was one of only two women reading Chemistry, Sheila became a process chemist. Made to give up her work when she married, common then and incomprehensible to women today. Later asked to help teach science at Alva Academy becoming a gifted teacher. At Clackmannan College where we met, she helped many students understand the basics of science when they had previously found it impossible. She gave me wonderful teaching tips, helping so much in those years of working out how to do it.
